Give Yourself A Face Massage

Sometimes you just need to switch off and give yourself some self care by massaging your face or anywhere on your body. This can give an immediate calming effect where ever you are massaging. It stimulates the cells to get more oxygen to them, filling that area with new oxygenated blood cells making that area feel better. This in turn sends signals to the brain releasing oxytocin your love hormone.

How to give yourself a face massage:

Using your index finger and middle finger do a circular motion to rub your fingers into your temples. You can use facial oil or a good massage oil. I love Rituals Ritual of Jing at the moment.

Then move down to the sides of your face, starting at your chin and moving up toward your forehead. Then slide your hands back down through your nose. Keep going in a circular motion. This will allow the skin to feel hydrated.

Bring your hands up to the forehead and slide your fingers over the eye brows. Applying a little more pressure to the brows themselves. Slide down the sides of your eyes and come back under the eye socket, moving back up through the bridge of the nose.

Move to the ears. Pinch the top of the ears and press down, applying gentle pressure. Massage behind the ears and move back up in a circular motion.

Move to the cheek bones. Use your index and middle fingers to press under your cheekbones. Start at the centre of your face and move toward your temples. You can use your knuckles to press into your face for more of a stronger massage. Again moving in a circular motion.

Try adding in a breathing technique. Every stroke downwards exhale. Every stroke upwards, inhale. Or add in Square Breathing. Inhale for 4 counts, hold for 4, exhale for 4 and hold again for 4. Do this 3 times.

Let me know if you try this by leaving a comment below and save this post for when you need it. Think you might need it in the coming weeks in the lead up to Christmas.
