Build Up Your Immune System

Updated: Jul 14

Its coming into Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere which means colder, darker days and lots more bugs going around. So to build up a better immune system so we do not go into bug overdrive lets delve into what can help us. Here are three things we can do each day to help us steer clear of colds, flu, the dreaded C word (not cancer), and live a better winter.

1. Eat Healthy Nutritious Foods

By doing this we are filling our immune systems up with good bacteria, good organisms, healthy fats, vitamins and minerals, carbohydrates and proteins which will help build up enzymes helping to fight off the bad bacteria and viruses. The healthier more nutrient rich, whole foods we have, the better. The less processed foods we eat, the better. I could go deep into this but if you wanted more information, you can download a FREE Nutrition Guide HERE. Let me know how you get on by leaving a comment below.

2. De stress every single day

The more we get anxious and stressed about things, the more our immune response to viruses starts to deplete and we then start to feel run down, tired and over doing it. This is our bodies way of telling us to slow down and starts with a fight or flight response. Meaning out immune system will go into overdrive as it is wanting us to get ready for a fight or run away from danger. We need to control the cortisol (stress hormone) and to do this we need to bring in breathing exercises to calm ourselves down. We also need to bring meditation into our lives (even if it is just 1-5 minutes per day) Self care is the utmost importance throughout winter to ward off viruses. Also going outside will get you breathing fresh air. this in turn will fill your cells with oxygen, fuelling your brain and lungs making you feel 100% better immediately.

3. Move

Movement allows our bodies to release all the negative energy all caught up inside our bodies. By moving every single day it allows this to all flow out. This could be Yoga, Dance, even just a walk in the woods. Whatever you end up doing, just move. Your body will thank you for it.

Let me know in the comments below what you will be doing this Autumn to keep the viruses at bay.
