And Into The Forest I Go, To Lose My Mind And Find My Soul

F O R E S T

And into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul. You've probably heard me talking so much about how getting outside and into nature can help cure just about anything. I know, I know I keep saying it but it truly is amazing.

We can learn so much from a forest of trees. Just watch them swaying in the wind, they are allowed to bend, they have the potential to grow, to reach the sun, they give off oxygen for us all to survive. They try to find the best sunlight to reach higher and grow. There is nothing in their way that will stop them, so why do we let our own lives rule us the way we do. Take some time out to really look at a tree. Look where and how its standing. Below your feet will be all of its roots which we cannot see. This is grounding them, spreading their roots further and further away from the main truck so reach the nutrients from below the ground. Lets do that with ourselves. Lets think about how we can grow as a human. What do you want to change in your life right now and be honest with yourself.

Think about how if the tree is so small in a forest full of bigger trees, how does it get seen by the sunlight? It finds a way to push up through the taller tress and gets that sunlight so it can prove to itself that it can do it. It can be healthier than its neighbours. It can help its neighbours by germinating its own nutrients and this then allows other plants and trees to grow to. So its not only helping itself, its helping others to.

Put this into your own life. Say you are struggling with your work/life balance. We all do at some point in our lives. We feel sluggish, tired, burning the candle at both ends, not eating right and then at your lowest point, your body just gives up and says enough is enough. You then come down with a cold, flu or stomach bug etc and this is when your body is telling you 'look seriously sit down, reax, look after me and I will make you better'. Most people don't even know how to relax. I say this a lot to my clients, when you are feeling tired, go to bed. I mean actually go to bed and sleep. Not go to bed and scroll on your phone. Listen to your body. Your intuition is the most amazing part of your soul. Trees have this to, that's how they know how to reach the sunlight. All things in nature do, everything that is living uses its intuition but as the human race has evolved, we have learnt to not use this. We need to unlearn it so we can listen to our bodies a lot more.

Take some time out when you are feeling low, sluggish, tired, not sure which direction to go it. This might mean having a weekend off to just lay in bed, or go out in nature and really connect back to where we originally came from. Take off your shoes and really connect your feet to the ground allowing you to feel grounded, allowing your soul to feel connected to the earth and universe. I always remember the scene in Pretty Women where he takes a day off which he has never taken a day off before ever and they go and sit in the park, having their shoes off, connecting with the ground and each other. He's never done that before and he feels so good. This he certainly needed and its something we should go back to doing. Taking time out and off from work is needed to reconnect with ourselves and our intuition.

What do you do for your time out or when things get to much? I would love to know, so leave a comment below.

So next time you are feeling low, sluggish, or just need to scream, go out into nature and look at what is around. Look up, look at what is above you and notice the trees. Give them the love and respect they deserve. It’s so nice to just walk into a forest, breathe fresh air, listen to the silence and release all the tension hanging over you.
