Six Practices To Get Back On Track

Are you feeling like you are just stuck in a rut right now and not sure where to go or what to do? Is your mind all over the place and you are having trouble sleeping? You are not alone. In 2013, there were 8.2 million cases of anxiety in the UK. That's a huge number and I'm sure it is nearly double that by now. So if you are feeling a little lost and not sure where to go there here are 6 things to help you get back on track.

1. Meditation

Now I know I talk about this a lot and that's because I love it so much and I have seen huge benefits in myself and my client's who do meditation. Now this doesn't mean just sitting there saying Om. (Well you can do but if you are anything like me then you wont be into that). This means taking 5 -30 minutes out of you r day to just sit and be still, be quiet and allow your thoughts to come in and out, breathing and allowing you to find peace with yourself. During the time you spend even if it is 10 minutes per day, ask yourself things, like what do I need to accomplish today? Then allow your thoughts to wash over you and then you will have your answer.

Allow yourself to be in science for 10 minutes. Don't allow thoughts of judgment for yourself and don't think stressful thoughts, just release them.

The first time you meditate it will be hard. I found it so hard at first but then the more you do it, the easier it becomes. Don't give up. Another big tip is to set a timer on your phone or device so then you aren't clock watching and you are allowing yourself the full freedom of the quietness in your mind.

2. Affirmations

This is so good for you, your soul and your mind. Affirmations are a written statement which changes your thought process. To do this write down what you want. Affirm what you are committed to by writing 'I am committed to.....' and then 'Why am I committed to it...'

Affirm what it is that you are committed to to get the desired results you need. Also set a time in your diary each day to do this. For example during your meditation you could do your affirmations and say out loud 'When am I going to do that?' 'What am I going to achieve today?'

3. Visualisation

I absolutely love this one and one that I do everyday during meditations. This is amazing at clearing your thought paths and it allows you to visualise yourself happy or you visualise yourself in a happier time. This then releases oxytocin your love hormone for you to feel better about yourself like if you were to receive a hug from someone your car about deeply. It makes you feel all warm and fuzzy and happy.

Take yourself back to a time when you were really happy. Visualise that activity to do what you are achieving. What does it feel like? What are you doing in that moment to make you feel happy? Visualise yourself as a third person so you are seeing yourself happy and doing whatever activity it is that is making you feel happy.

4. Exercise

We all know that exercise is good for the mind, body and soul so lets get out there and start releasing the good happy hormones (serotonin and endorphins) and letting go of the stress hormones (Cortisol). A tip you can do is to if you are watching TV and the ad break comes on. Do jumping jacks or star jumps till your programme comes back on again. That way you will feel energised and uplifted and and your wont feel sluggish and tired anymore.

Go for a run, walk, swim or cycle to get exercise or do a YouTube HIIT workout. Or yoga or anything that is getting your body moving.

5. Read a Book

If you have been struggling to find time to read a book then set yourself a target each day to only read 5 pages. That way you will read a book in less than 2 months which will be a huge achievement if you haven't read a book for years.

6. Journaling

This is another amazing one to do which has huge benefits. Write down your thoughts from your day or when something angers you. Notice how you feel when you write it down and get rid of those negative thoughts. A little tip you can do is to have a pen and paper in your bag so when you are out and you are feeling a little low then take pen to paper and jot down anything that is annoying you. You can also use it a different way to notice all the little things around you. The more grateful you are the more you will notice your feelings better and be able to control them better.

Appreciate where you are right now. Be at peace with where you are right now and embrace what you have in this present moment. Allow this to be your fresh start. You can do this. Ask a friend to help you if you are stuck or leave a comment below and we can schedule a FREE call for you to be helped and for you to find a better person within you right now. Its in there, its just waiting for you to release it.
