Good morning lovely people. I hope you are well. I did a meditation this morning and what came through was a lot to do with self love and how we need to love ourselves before we can love anyone else. This rings so true to me on so many levels. I see through my client calls that everyone struggles with self love at some point in their lives. I have when I gave birth to both my children. I have always been the athletic type and loved how strong I was or still am. I have always been around a size 10, but with both my pregnancies I put on some weight. Not much but some and to me this just didn't feel like me. I was used to having a flat stomach and I know that all these celebrities slim down within the first 6 weeks of giving birth of which this is just so unrealistic. I certainly wasn't one of them. But then I changed my mindset around and though wait a minute, I've just grown another human being in my body, I have produced this amazing little creature (twice) and yet I am still beating myself up about how I looked.
So from then on I focused on not my body size, wobbly bits or anything like that, I focused on providing for my baby, nourishing my baby and eating the right foods for me to feel well through the sleepless nights etc. This in turn then made me feel good about my self and love myself for what it has just been through. Growing a baby in 9 months, giving birth to it and then nourishing and feeding a baby. If you change your thought process round then this will in turn make you feel confident enough for you to try to love yourself.
Now if you suffer with post natal depression or PTSD if you have had a traumatic birth then nourishing your body with the correct foods etc will help you body and mind connect in ways you never thought possible. I haven't suffered with PND but have had friends who have. They had it for quite a long time, never loving themselves, really hating themselves at times but when a little glimmer of hope stretches though the mindset you can truly see the good in things then it starts to become a reality that you going to to get better, You are going to be able to provide for your baby and you will get back to being yourself. Little steps first.
You though are someone very special and who a lot of people love, you just need to see that and when you do things will become a lot clearer in your mind.
Here are a few things which you can implement into your daily life to help with self care and self love.
Start by saying something positive to yourself every day. This can be when you are brushing your hair and looking at the person looking back at you. Say to yourself 'look how lovey I look today' or 'I love you'. This will put the negative thoughts out of your mind.
Start everyday with a nourishing breakfast and foods to really nourish your mind and soul. Natural raw foods. This will give you comfort knowing that you will not get a sugar spike in a few hours. Like right now while I'm writing this, I am eating a raw carrot. I love carrots, could eat them all day., I know this is going to nourish me rather than having a chocolate biscuit which will give me a sugar spike in couple of hours.
Move your body for around an hour each day. This doesn't have to be 1 full hour, it can be little breaks of 10 minutes. Go for a walk at lunch time or go and do some yoga when you have a break or need to move. This will clear you mind of negative thoughts and will set you up.
Surround yourself with lovely people and who you like. People who have a negative impact on you, you will eventually not have them in your life. You will start to see a pattern. You will be feeling great and they wont be so they will start to be more negative towards you. This is when that relationship becomes toxic so get out while you can. This will be the most amazing decision of your life. I have done that on numerous occasions over the years and yes its hard to start with but then you feel great and that it just becomes the normal. Surround yourself with people who believe in you and who want you to succeed.
Stop comparing yourself to others. You are unique, no one is the same, everyone looks and feels different so take that into consideration. People love you for being you not for trying to be someone else. What would the world be like if we were all the same, boring probably.
Follow what you love to do. Follow your passion. Not everyone has the choice to do this but if you do, go for it. This will then in turn make you happy and you will want to work to help others or find your passion though something else. Find something that scares you yet gets you so excited its all that you talk about. That's called passion. Follow your heart.
Meditate when you can. This will truly let you heal and allow your negative thoughts to be just pushed away.
Be mindful of what and how you think. This comes back to meditation again. Think of a glass half full not half empty.
Treat others the same as you would like to be treated.
Learn to say no. This has come up a lot over the last few months or so. This is truly one of the hardest things to do but once you start to say no and put yourself first you will then notice a huge difference in the way you live.
When in a relationship it is important for you to feel comfortable in knowing that you love yourself before you can love your partner the same. Give it a try and see how you get on. Let me know in the comments.
