Reclaiming the Peak: Why a Woman’s Sexual Peak is a State of the Nervous System

When a woman comes into my practice and asks when she will finally hit her sexual peak, I always tell her the exact same thing: it is more of a feeling and a regulation of the nervous system, not a specific date, age, or time of a life stage.
There are so many factors that contribute to this. However, I know many women in their 40s will naturally hit their sexual peak because they finally know exactly what they want from their sexual encounters. They have spent years learning what works and what doesn’t work for them. Plus, they have learned so much about themselves and have successfully shed the people-pleasing traits that usually take over in their 20s and 30s.
Getting Out of Fight or Flight: The Somatic Practice
When I coach women in their 40s, I always get them to come back to one foundational question: “What feels good for me?”
To help them drop out of their heads and back into their physical bodies, I guide them through a simple, powerful somatic grounding exercise that you can practice right now at home:
Find a Quiet Space: Lay down comfortably on your back, remaining fully clothed.
Place Your Hands: Place one hand gently on your tummy, and place your other hand right over the mound of your pelvic bone.
Just Breathe: Close your eyes and ask yourself honestly, “What feels good to me right now?”
The Tantric Anchor: From this position, we practice the 4-7-8 Tantric Breath Work Practice to really feel into any emotions coming up. You inhale for 4 counts, hold your breath for 7 counts, and exhale completely for 8 counts.
This specific sequence actively coaxes the body into the parasympathetic nervous system, the rest and digest mode. It drags you out of the sympathetic nervous system (the fight or flight response) where most of us spend our entire day.
Slowing down the breath allows dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin to flood the body. This chemical shift allows the natural power of a female body to completely override stress-inducing cortisol, bringing you right back home to yourself.
Where the True Power Lives
Women who have stepped into their peak know exactly what feels good when they orgasm, and they know exactly how to masturbate to honor the feelings coming up.
Because they have done the internal work, they can clearly tell their partner where and how they like to be touched. This gives them immense sexual confidence in the bedroom, purely because they are being open, honest, raw, and real with themselves and their partner.
This is where the power is. It results in a huge wave of body confidence, sexual confidence, and above all, a deep sense of self-trust and self-love. They become 100% unapologetically themselves.
By combining consistent breathwork, intentional somatic exercises, and using the throat to physically open up how they feel, women stop waiting for a milestone. They know exactly when their sexual peak is happening because they are creating it from within.
