Often, these pervasive symptoms stem from one fundamental oversight: we're simply not breathing correctly. And here's a crucial insight – did you know that all these symptoms profoundly impact sexual intimacy?

The statistics are eye-opening: a significant 43% of women report that these very issues hinder their sexual experiences.

But here's the truly empowering news: the path to change can begin with just one to two minutes a day. Imagine, a mere moment while sitting or lying in bed before your day even begins, can set the stage for profound transformation.

Breath work is an absolutely incredible catalyst for finding the courage to address those lingering concerns, whether they're whispering within you or creating tension in your relationship. Once you begin to grasp the foundational principles of breath work, your entire sexual experience will be wonderfully transformed. My husband and I have personally witnessed this magic; even just two minutes of breath work before intimacy has profoundly elevated our orgasms.

Beyond the bedroom, breath work is also an unparalleled force for cultivating deeper intimacy within your relationship. Say what?! Yes, it's true! The more attuned you become to your own body, the greater your capacity for sexual satisfaction will be – and who doesn't desire more of that?

Have you ever observed the effortless, full-bodied breathing of babies and young children? They instinctively engage their abdomen and chest, drawing in a complete, nourishing round of oxygen that flows vibrantly throughout their entire being. It's only as adults that we seem to adopt shallow, inefficient breathing patterns, failing to utilize our lungs to their magnificent potential. This shallow breathing is often the culprit behind that sluggish feeling, chronic tiredness, persistent stress, and, crucially, a diminished sense of connection with our partners.

We are simply not supplying our bodies and brains with anywhere near enough oxygen to function at their peak capacity. Low oxygen levels can leave your brain working inefficiently, impacting everything from mood to focus. Your breath, in its sheer simplicity, is one of your most potent defenses against daily stress, frustrating moments, and is genuinely foundational to living a healthy, vibrant lifestyle. Moreover, it empowers you with the confidence you need for profound intimacy, both with yourself and your partner.

A key tantric breathwork practice, Bellows breath (or Bhastrika) is a vigorous yogic technique involving rapid, forceful inhalations and exhalations, much like the action of a blacksmith's bellows. It is believed to facilitate the upward movement of sexual energy from the pelvic region through the spinal cord and beyond.

 Square Breathing Or Box Breathing Technique Tutorial

Click On The Videos For A 6 Minute Square Breathing Technique Tutorial. Box breathing, also referred to as square breathing, is a deep breathing technique that helps you to slow down your breathing. It works by distracting your mind as you count to four, calming your nervous system, and decreasing stress in your body. You'll count to four on an inhale, hold for four, exhale for four and repeat that three times or as long as you feel you would like to.

We sometimes use this just before we have sex. It really allows the parasympathetic nervous system to relax, releasing the rest and digest hormones.

Ujjayi Breathing Techniques Tutorial

Ujjayi breath is just incredible to use within my sex life. It helps my husband and I to intimately connect with each other, arouse us and definitely gets me out of my head and into the juiciness of my body, as well as give me more mind-blowing orgasms. Do you want this to? I'm sure you do, so watch the video of how to do it. When you have mastered this, its just an incredible feeling. You can also use it in everyday life.

Alternate Nostril Breathing Technique Tutorial

This breath work technique really can spice up your sex life. It allows the prana (energy life force) to move up through the body. It allows the sexual hormones to be turned on, allowing you to feel fully in control and to be guided by your body during sex. Its a great practice to do before and after sex.

Diaphragmatic Breathing Technique Tutorial

This type of breath work allows the sexual energy to move through the body releasing the cortisol (stress hormone) out of the body.

The most basic type of diaphragmatic breathing is done by inhaling through your nose and breathing out through your mouth.

Numbered Breathing Technique Tutorial

Numbered breathing is a great exercise for gaining control over your orgasms. When we are nearly at the point of climaxing, we tend to hold our breath, this is also true for when we are stressed or nervous. Numbered breathing allows you to fully let go and have that amazing orgasm that you are wanting in the moment.

Rib Stretch Breathing Technique Tutorial

The rib stretch is another helpful deep breathing exercise especially when it comes to sex and sexual arousal. It allows the nervous system to feel fully calm, allowing you to be fully in the moment. This is a great technique when it comes to trying something new within your sexual experience or juts allowing yourself to feel fully present and letting go.

So as you can see, you can do these breath work techniques anywhere. 

I challenge you to do one together. It will certainly increase your intimate time with each other.

 

Here are a couple of couples games you can try. 

Partner Back To Back Breath Work Pose

I absolutely love this concept. When you feel you are having a argument or a very difficult conversation, I would you both to sit on the floor or on the bed back to back. You are still touching each other but you aren’t facing each other. Breathe and feel each other’s chests expanding through your spine. Either hold hands or just rest your hands beside you. I want you to take in 3 big deep breaths together, inhaling and exhaling at the same time.

You can then go onto the below section or you can then do Square Breathing or Box Breathing to really feel fully connected to each other.

You aren’t looking at each other and so this gives you the confidence to really bring anything up that is on your mind. One of you speaks first and the other listens without interrupting. You both don’t shout and when the other person has finished talking, say yes ‘I hear you, and these are my thoughts’…

This way you both get to speak; you both get to feel each other and most of all you can speak to each other because you aren’t actually looking at each other which then gives you the confidence to speak up. Give it go and if it doesn’t work the first time, keep coming back to it. It eventually will let you speak to each other with confidence.

Breathe Together

Another breath work practice and game is to lay in bed facing each other, start kissing and then one of you inhales while the other person exhales but you are open mouth to mouth, so you are in effect inhaling your partners air. You can only do this for a few breaths as there wont be much oxygen flowing but it sure makes you both feel connected and turned on. Give it a try and let me know how you get on.
